N.E.W. – the Network to Empower Women

The Purpose & Vision for N.E.W.

The purpose of the Network to Empower Women is to create and sustain countless circles which link women with each other; and connect women, men, and resources via the World Wide Web (Internet) in a way that enables the empowering of women everywhere.

Imagine a world…

• where, whenever you see a news story picturing local, national, or world leaders, there are as many women as men in the picture.
• where, whenever there are elections anywhere, there are as many women as men who vote, run for office, and are elected.
• where, whenever business or religious or any other kind of leaders meet, there are among them as many women as men.
• where warfare and violence lose all attraction, because everyone´s creative potential is being used to enjoy and enhance Life.
• filled with homes in which men alongside women take full responsibility for the care of children and the work of the household.
• in which women´s wisdom and heart, with men´s glad co-operation, creates a path out of poverty and pollution.
• in which women everywhere claim their inherent wisdom, power and responsibility to decide and work for the welfare of their communities, and men are glad to have them do so.

Imagine…any good you can for our world and its people, and realize that this good becomes far more possible and probable if women are able to use their great abilities in new ways unfettered by old traditions and limitations the human race has now outgrown.

This is the vision of N.E.W.

N.E.W. envisions a worldwide network of circles that intentionally empower women, meeting in as many places as possible, available to all interested women, and linked with the many other resources and organizations already empowering women. In this way, the great strength there is in numbers and solidarity can be used to create the social change so badly needed in our time.

Power is understood here as the ability to help oneself and everyone, including all of life, flourish in every way. Power is not domination or control. It is the ability to create, choose, and act for the thriving of oneself and all creation. Women need to be able to use their innate power and abilities for this purpose. Women´s gifts and wisdom are desperately needed if the world is to have a flourishing future. Leadership, in particular, needs to be equally in the hands of women and men at every level of society. Women and men need to fly together in every possible way, so that humanity can become like a bird that is finally able to fly because it is using both wings.

This is the ultimate goal of N.E.W.
